Here we go…. again.Alright, this is it. Third blogs the charm. This is ‘just another wordpress’ but, after two failed attempts at ‘just another’ blogspot and tumblr I hope that we can make this work. I am Dillon. I do design. I have gone to school and maybe with all of the credit hours I have accumulated I should have a degree of some sort. But I don’t! Instead I have decided that, for me, pursuing a good portfolio more beneficial than pursuing a degree. I hope that I’m right. As of now I am a sort of freelance wedding invitation designer, nanny, waitress, and volunteer extraordinaire! While this blog is dedicated to my design process and projects, I might not be able to resist throwing in some details of the day to day in. I mean, the kids I nanny and work with are too awesome to put on the sidelines. Another disclaimer would be that I am pretty into cats, and I have two of them. Pheobe and Lola make my world go around. And that is pretty much everything you might ever want to know about me. As far as design goes, I attended the Kansas City Art Institute for two semesters in 2008. I spent one of those in the foundations program going through three different workshops, and the other semester was spent in design bootcamp. I loved every minute of it, and I wish I had the chance to finish. I should have finished, but it’s too late for that now so I’m not going to look back. Not to mention as much as I love working on the computer I need to get my hands dirty. The great thing about wedding stationary is that it gives me an opportunity to do that. The designs I have produced so far have allowed me to letterpress, cut, fold, glue, sew, write, and screenprint. A N D I L O V E I T. I also think that being able to convey a couple’s story or personalities through an invitation is a pretty cool thing to do. And that is it. This post only took me three days, and I am going to stop myself before I go on with everything I could put in the next post. That one will probably take me three days too. Oops. | ![]() me |
